Non-Invasive Ventilation Therapy
Non-Invasive Ventilation therapy (NIV) is designed for patients with respiratory conditions that affect the muscles, nerves, reflexes, or organs involved in breathing, making it difficult to breathe. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) combined with acute respiratory failure can disrupt normal breathing patterns, impacting the individual’s ability to inhale enough oxygen and exhale enough carbon dioxide, resulting in a buildup of carbon dioxide in the lungs.
NIV is typically prescribed for the following medical conditions:
- Neuromuscular diseases
- Thoracic restrictive diseases
- Chronic respiratory failure resulting from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
The service also encompasses a monthly follow-up, which may occur either in the patient’s home or via a phone call.
